I am presently in Jordan working on a Government project for the people of Jordan. My wife and I are 42 and 50 years, respectively. We are American citizens, living in California. We would love to adopt a baby and my wife is very interested, as am I, in adopting a child from here or from one of the refugee orphanages. We are not Muslim, but we love children and both believe they are the greatest gift God has bestowed on all of us. I have read the rules and regulations posted by the Jordanian Government, but it would be a shame if these babies, any baby was forced to be raised in either an orphanage or worse just because of our religious beliefs. Is there a way for parents such as ourselves to work through this in any way? I have about three weeks left in Jordan and will be traveling between Aqaba and Amman off and on. Maybe someone has an idea?

What saddens me most is many intelligent youth (male & female) in west are fed up with its purposeless materialistic, self-indulgent & decadents ways & are searching for more spiritual & wholesome way of life; many are discovering Islam & are willing to estrange their parents & society to follow it & become better Muslims than many born Muslim; Yet many of our Muslim youth are doing the reverse. As one of these converts, who was a very successful rapper, put it, when asked what would he say about those Muslims who want western life style: "It is like being in burning house & you are leaving it & running away from it, yet you see some people who want to run right into the burning house".

There are a lot of good things in the West, freedom (which is when unrestrained becomes bad), advancement, farness, relative justice, relative equality, relative equity...etc. But all these are gradually disappearing. But let me tell you about what you do not hear about enough:
1- one in four girls (1 in 5 boys) are sexually molested before they reach age of 1.
2- A woman is raped every 10 seconds (or 10 Minutes?) in USA.
3- Women now based on polling stats are much less happier than their grandmas & mothers, who supposedly had less freedom than they do. The so called sexual revolutions - was more for men than woman. It allowed men to sleep with men without any commitment whatsoever.
4- 75% divorce rate, which should make you wonder. If both men & women are so free & date for years before marriage why do 75% end up in divorce!!!
5- Although people are well off (again this is gradually disappearing), but they are not happy & suicide rate are on the increase not decrease. Reason no spiritual life. Money, sex, martial may make someone happy for few years, but then his life becomes empty.
6-Broken families, Children visits their parents few times a year & sometimes die without anyone around - especially when they get really old.

These are some. but not al results of "sexual revolution" & restrained freedom.

Is that what you want for your society?

I live in the West for a long a time, & I was initially taken by the glitter of "freedom". But no more. I can write a book about the spiritual, emotional and social destructiveness of this so called "sexual freedom". Instead, let me just demonstrate that by an real life example, you can verify on YouTube.

About 250,000 People convert to Islam yearly in the West. It may shock you to learn that 75% of them are women & most are very young - 16-30. They convert & put the Hijab on & are very happy about it. Now think why would these young ladies leave the their 100% life style & convert to Islam, often against their family & society wishes?

Those men who are that call for Muslim "women freedom" to dress & do as they please, what they are really calling for is for the freedom of men to sleep with them without commitment. I.e. without marriage. Islam does put guidelines on both men & women, it is the current stupid Arab culture that loosen that freedom for men a lot more than women. What is needed is not give women more ways to fall pray to men lusts (& theirs) but also apply same social norms to men as well. Islam have punishment & reward for man & women, but society applies the standard unequally.

But, in reality even in the West there are different rules for men & women. Men who sleep around are studs. Women who sleep around are sluts. Women who do that are truly sluts, but also men who do that are just as bad - we need a comparable word for slut.
