Are our children DEVOLVING by modernity and civilization?

Since, I am totally obsessed with Harry Potter these days; today’s question is inspired by Harry Potter.
For a long complex reason, I bought the first episode of Harry Potter… I watched all episodes except this one… and obviously realized how it started more childish and innocent and then became darker and darker…. a sentence written on the cover of the first episode stated:

“Parental guidance recommended for persons under 15 years”

Reading this sentence, my 15 year old cousins automatically came to mind. They are way taller than myself, physically much stronger, and are acutely aware of what happen around the world. Conversations with them vary from American foreign policies to water on Mars… The idea of having to guide them while watching any of the Harry Potters, let alone the first episode seemed completely ridiculous, actually it bordered the hilarious!

This thought made me wonder whether modernity is pushing us to devolve by being over protective over our children… I mean the more civilised the more protective we are, the more concerned with safety and consequences of everything and anything… our lived become more governerd by complex social  rules… this means our children are more sheltered and therefore less skilled ….

Did Alexander the Great conquer the world by the age of 17? I wonder if his mother would have stopped him from watching Harry Potter.

I leave you with a glimpse…

BOO!

a 6 year old boy in sweileh’s rush hour can cross the street better than me, cause i’m used to cross walks and abide by jay walking rules which means it takes me ages to cross the street.

harry potter? it makes me feel like..Bah!!
I think the world is evolving fast with technical complicated branches expanding every day, with that..being over protective is the only way to deal with it for future generations.

I do agree that this might result unskilled and less exposed, but the contrary would be much worse at this day and age of a very dark world we live in.

Bringing up a related issue, obviously age ratings in Jordan are of no concern to parents here,I doubt any movies/games shop would not sell a 18+ product to a 10 year old..yes we did turn out fine ou mashaAllah 3alaina with all the violence we’ve watched and played, but would they?

I think some rules are good… but when we have too many rules and regulations… i am not sure anymore… where is the world heading with all these rules?
