Dirty Gossip and four witnesses

Yes it is what it sounds like… it is a case of fornication, or in this case adultery, since the man is married. It is one of those classical stories that we Jordanians, love to pretend we are shocked to hear… since it is the Egyptian guard and the Philippina maid. As if Jordanian men, and Jordanian women are exempt of engaging in something so scandalous.

The story goes like this; our neighbours are two unmarried sisters, live together in one house… The sisters have a philippina maid that takes care of the house… as a matter of fact the girl is young and full of life, she is a queen of seduction. She has been acting funny around the guard, who happens to be married and his wife actually lives with him.

He waited till his wife left to work, and went up the stairs to the house where the girl lives. It happens that one of the sisters had her doubts and paid a spy, whose identity is still kept secret to tell her if the guard goes into the house. True to her expectations, the spy calls her at work, and within five minutes she brings four male colleagues and goes home, where the rumour has it that they caught the guard and the maid in the act!

Now, I won’t get into the stupidity of the maid of the guard… I just don’t want to get into the whole pain of marital betrayal… (even when there is no sex involved)…it breaks trust and respect, it ruins self esteem and makes the person feel unimportant and unloved… I think I might have been more sympathetic if there was no wife involved… I would have been more sympathetic if the guy did not go into someone’s house to express himself! and since it was consensual act between two adults, I just won’t dwell on it.

However, the whole vindictiveness of the house lady really surprised me… I wondered why she brought four men? Why not three? Why not two? Why not one? Why four? And I think the thing is that she knew that if there were four witnesses, it becomes a case of adultery that is punishable by religion… even though this is not punishable by the Jordanian law, unless the wife decided to pursue the law, or if the father or the husband of the woman who has been part of the act. This act was done only to prove a point… and that she did.

I could not help but think there is some sort of jealousy involved, not about the man of course, but about the idea that she is unmarried and virtuous and simply can’t have fun for whatever reasons…. but her maid can… I mean…if she was afraid of catching them alone, she could have asked one or two men to come with her… but four?!! Come on.

  • Just sound the alarm and you will find 20 men willing to come and watch… She probably had to push some away and disappoint them

  • Sorry to say this, but our society is sick with voyeurism. We all want to know what happens behind closed curtains. It’s intriguing.
Yeah, a bunch would say “A3ootho billah” but how many really mean it!?

    It’s sad

By the way, I really like the way you approached it. And love the new theme :)

  • Hi Mariam, I am amazed by this story! So, did the four men break down the door and run back to the bedroom before the guard could escape out the window?

I agree with what you said about adultery. It is a terrible betrayal of trust!

Did you get my email? Also, I have a new post. I think you may find it interesting.

    David,

They did not break the door, because the lady of the house was the fifth person with them… now i have more iformation, since i went down to check on the wife. The wife claims that the maid asked him to come and help hang up something on the wall. when the lady of the house arrived with her four witnesses, she did not catch them doing anything, but she saw him in her house and the maid all made up and dressed sexily!

The guy is in prison right now. It was a mistake for him to go into someon’s house without their permission, but i think that the thing has gone too far.

  • I’m getting confused. So, you went to visit the wife of the man in jail? She must be feeling really bad right now. Her husband’s behavior has hurt her feelings and damaged her reputation. What is the man being charged with? Is he considered a burgler for entering the Lady’s house without her permission? I feel sorry for the maid too. I suppose she will loose her job now.

well both the guard and the maid are in jail. There is no charge yet… i don’t know on which basis they put them in jail…. i think the lady of the house is just being mean.

In all cases… yes i visited his wife, she was devestated, all what she wanted was for her husband to get out of jail and she will teach him a lesson her way after that… she was hurt of all accounts … in the husband cheating and on his being in jail…

Yeah… i suppose… or she did not shoot them based on honor… you know since the maid is considered part of the family and all!
