You put together an excellent point with what you explained. People have to read your posting so they can have a better perspective on this issue. It was perfect of you to supply great points and supporting justifications. After reading this, I know my thoughts are extremely clear about the topic. Continue the great work!

Thank you for your comment and welcome to my space.

I felt your comment to be thought provoking... I believe in devolution as much as I believe in evolution... let’s make a comparison between rabbits and humans on the issue of the appendix for example, and we can see that the appendix does not have the same function in both creatures... even though research proves that they had the same function once upon a time...which proves that devolution happened... so yes... it is very plausible.

Read right around Surah 5:60 in Quran. It suggests that Pigs were once humans. I respectfully submit that the similarities between humans and swine may have a reason currently buried in our current understanding of History. Nevertheless, if it IS true, consuming Pork might seem like a sort of cannibalism.

Odd how Fundamental Evolutionists often discount the possibility that the genetic structure of an animal might actually degenerate. If it so does, it may be safe to assume that the degeneration of tribes of humans into apes and swine as willed by the Most High did, in fact happen. Unfortunately, the Noble Book does not seem (to my limited knowledge, as of this moment) to give any clues as to "How" or "over what space of time" such a degeneration may have occured. It simply says that the Almighty willed that those who debased the Law (Torah?) were turned into Apes and Swine. Fascinating, to me, if a little horrifying, considering I was once fond of bacon.

lol :) it WAS a compliment, I enjoy reading your posts :) I did not know that pigs were that sensitive, but doesnt it apply to all animals? Isnt Halaal to be discrete when killing an animal, and we cant kill one in front of another? bas ibsar maybe pigs are even more sensitive.

:) ohh I will take that as a complement :)

I have recently watched a documentary about pigs... and it was shocking! I mean pigs are probably one of the most intelligent animals... and guess what?...they have feelings! In this documentary, they showed us how they feel fear and pain to the point that they start crying when anther pig is slaughtered in front of them!
I honestly think that the reason why eating them is forbidden is much more sophisticated that we imagine...

On a different note, I was recently having a conversation with a religious person and he told me that in the Islamic culture there is a story about human beings who devolved into monkeys and pigs as a punishment... it truly and seriously got me to think... I mean if it is true, then I really don’t want to eat a fellow human being and if it is not true, then damn... why did they chose these particular animals ? that thought is interesting on several levels!
Anyway... I am exhausted... so I am off to bed!

seriously, you have some wonderfully thought provoking posts on your blog! I thought that Pork was haraam/non-kosher because pigs dont have proper protuding necks and hence cannot be killed in the halaal/kosher way, also of all the meats, pork is most susceptible to parasites and what not, and I also thing they are happy to eat meat. Now, I have never heard of xenotransplantation, but if we are not allowed to consume pigs, would we be allowed to sew bits of them into our bodies? I guess that depends on how the verse that forbids the eating of pig meat is constructed...

Regarding the topic that why muslims do not eat pigs, after studying little bit of biology ( which is so not my subject ), I always thought that since pigs are the best ones to provide humans with compatible organs this probably could be the most valid reason that Islam prohibits the consumption of pig. However, there are many other reasons too which are mentioned everywhere that pigs are the filthiest of all animals and as humans mind and soul do get effected by what they consume, they should avoid the consumption of such swine flesh.
Scientifically proven experiments and facts are becoming more welcomed in the societies as compared to religious believes. Nevertheless, the way science is growing that day is not far when all the facts which are already mentioned in islam will be proven scientifically as well.

Pigs are prohabited in Islam and Judism due to its polygamy nature and the filth eating tasks assigned to it. Any habits of animals eaten by human being are reflective in human being hence the porno-style living in the societies who eat pork.
