Clutter
I woke up today to realize that snow did not stop all night, I have been stuck at home for two days… and the prospect of a third day was a bit too much to bear. Staying home is normally not an issue for me. I am a self entertaining person But home this week was not a house… it was a carnival!
Residents were mom and brother, the everyday residents… aunt who came from Aqaba with her two teenager sons (12 and 14 )and who are positively slappable they were stranded with us…. There was also my sister and her baby kid (less than two years). Both women freaking out about their husbands who are travelling and are scheduled to come back today… both women were not sure if husbands can make it home and were super irritable and dramatic.
At some point my other sister come to visit with her two kids (4 and 1 years) her maid came along. Soon after brother came to check up on us with his wife!!! It seemed that we were in a hybrid world between a circus and a carnival!
People were not the problem but the house was messy with mattresses, blankets, pillows… dirt glasses and plates all over the place…. but worse is the clothing… there were pieces of clothing at every single corner… it seemed like a clothing bomb had exploded in the house…
NOISE… NOISE… NOISE…. and more NOISE
At some point I thought I will commit suicide if I didn’t hide somewhere… Therefore I decided to clean my room….
I sort of learnt how not see the clutter…. today I decided to open my eyes and look …. I felt like I unearthed a hideous scandal! I can’t believe there is spot so perfectly ugly as my desk was… How can a person gather this much clutter in a few months?! ufft!
Here is a list of what I found at my desk:
1. Phone Manual
2. Different packs of medicine (cold, vitamins…)
3. Face creams
4. Eye Creams….
5. Mosquito kit ( machine and the blue things that go in them)
6. Books, and more books
7. CDs and DVDs
8. Cassettes… very old one… there was a LAMBADA cassette!!!
9. Shoe Polisher
10. Shoe Spay
11. Hair bans
12. Bobby pins
13. Business cards ( a lot of those)
14. Empty boxes ( phone box, Hard Disk and watch)
15. Coins from about fifteen countries
16. At least three scarves
17. Different items of clothing
18. Blow dryer
19. Two brushes
20. Pens
21. Make up kit
22. Nails kit
23. Bills
24. Mail
25. Lighter
26. Socks
27. Tooth paste (what the hell was it doing there?!)
28. Chocolate
29. Baby hat
30. Baby shoes
31. Papers, more papers and much more papers
Among other unidentified items! Here is a picture of before and after. Isn’t this very Oprah

It is much better than the way it was before the face lift but still not quite attractive. I think what you need is two or three shelving units to be installed just above your desk. And once you have that professionally done by a licensed carpenter, then you will be able to lift all of the books, magazines, and other personal paraphernalia off your desk surface, organize it, & place it on top of the shelving units. By so doing you will have a very aesthetically looking work bench area. Good luck

thank you
i am thinking of getting rid of the desk all together and maybe create some sort of a unit that is more of a bedroom unit than an office… I just don’t want to see anymore clutter… i hate clutter… i felt i could breath today…

I’ve been stressing over the writing test and so I ended up not doing any of the things one can do on a snow day, like clean up a very messy desk.
Your carnival actually sounds fun
hehe… family bonding is cool when one has a choice, not when we’re all STUCK!
Hopefully this will clear up soon and our pretty little cars will start moving again.

It sounds like a mad house! I hope the snow stops so everyone can get home. I am sure various articles of clothing will be left behind.
How many years did you collect things on your desk?
My desk is almost as bad as yours was. Maybe I should do some cleaning too!

Well, at the moment it was mad! now that everyone has left… the house is too silent
I went for a drive yesterday and ended up breaking something (the bumper) and i could not park it in its spot, so it is parked in the middle of the street! i will have to go down to try and park it properly

Try boxes … you can stuff all the junk inside and – voila – it looks nice and organized on the outside! I myself have several, they are even somewhat categorized, but my favorite one is labeled with “stuff”!
Btw, are you no longer living in London? I was thinking about visiting this summer
Kisses & miss ya,
The older woman

hey gorgeous,
No, I moved to Amman a few months ago… but maybe we can go somewhere this summer… I was thinking of going to France, maybe I will come and visit you in Germany? Or maybe we can go somewhere completely different? hitch hike somewhere? Where is your vacation this year? Maybe I can meet you and Frank there? Let talk seriously about it.

Lambada sounds vaguely familiar. Was that a dance? I remember the Macarena better.
Wow, 15 years old! My deck clutter may date back 5 years at the most. I really should clean it. I may just find some stuff that I could use.
