I love life!
At this point of my life, I am where I am meant to be, where I want to be, where I should be!
I finally decided to take control of my life, and my first step was to start my Masters degree in Anthropology Community and Youth work. After years and years of confusion and loss and not knowing where I am heading and what I want to do with my life and what is my mission on earth. I found my way.
Today was my first day at school, and boy how exciting it is! I caught myself smiling, I am fascinated with the topics that I am to study: religion, politics, society, racism, terrorism, gender roles, nationality, youth, drugs, sex… have you ever heard of anything more fun?!! … topics that I am not only perfectly capable of handling, but topics that I love, that I enjoy, that I excel in!
I love the school, the people, the professors, the students, the streets, the buildings I am looking forward late night studying, countless cups of coffee that leave you jittery, exams, homework,… I dont know what could a person ask for more in life! I really dont know what you school brats are complaining about!!

I personally haven't heard of anything more fun than sex…
Good luck

holy crap.. that almost even got Me excited about school!
I got to say, the topics all sound fascinating and I'd love the chance to delve into any of them. makes me wonder why did I have to study something so technical and lifeless, oh well.
good luck with your newfound direction Mariam
may the rest of us soon grab hold of a compass

Are you going to attend university in the U.S.? If so, which one?
….I'm going off topic now, so please bear with me. As I was pondering whether I was supposed to know the answers to the above questions from reading your blog (to avoid asking a stupid question), I made a crucial discovery: of the handful of bloggers that I consider as The Essentials in my blog interaction circle, you are the person that I know the least “life facts” about. I have a sense of your personality and thought-patterns from reading your rich and expressive posts, but very little mundane information like if you're living in the U.S. now, or if you have a job etc. I ended up reading your blog from the beginning (which was a REAL treat), and I did learn some scattered life facts, but not enough to form a cohesive picture.
Bottom Line: I demand a biographical sketch ASAP.
OK, so that was really prying, intrusive, and inappropriate! Sorry! But if for some reason you feel like granting this request…..
Do I have to sign, or can you guess who this is?

Akh Jameed…. completely over rated! try chocolate, gives you the same effect, without the emotional baggage!

Well, Hello
You have disappeared, I was in Computer science and althought it was fascinating, and exciting, especially Artificial Intelligence, it was completely soul-less and too perfect for my taste… and even though my topics are emotional and chaotic and full of confusion and are subjective and cause anger… they are what i thrive in…. call it years of growing up in a chaotic society, or maybe just the way I am… but I finally feel i am home
It is really exciting going back to school! not like the first time, much much better!

hmmm… how interesting! I stopped for a while at your comment, to see whether there are clues that would lead me to who you are. In my orbit, i could see three people, but they all know exactly where I am
so I am afraid, you need to give me another clue.
Quid pro quo… and in this case it is in information…
how about that for a deal?

I didn't think it would be that hard to guess, I was about to sign but figured that your analytical mind would already know the answer by that point

I'm getting upset now! 3an jad
Who teases you about your analytical mind and deep and thoughtful posts, and whom you blamed for making you seem nerdy?!
I might have to reconsider my assessment about your analytical abilities now!
You're going to have to provide a very detailed biography to make up for all this heartache
Are we getting somewhere now, or should I just give up and sign?

khalas i know who you are! it was not me who suggested that you were Yazan! I always sign and who ever suggested you were Yazan was not signed… DUH!
I will give you a hint ” first love is always special” was an interpretation I gave you once! how about that?
My deal still is valid… Quid pro quo… your choice

nice try, but it is not Yazan actually

yup! I know who you are! the analytical abilities gave you away!

LOL, Sorry! I didn't notice the lack of signature
I hereby reaffirm my trust in your analytical abilities (although you still should have guessed from the first comment!).
I have no problem with quid pro quo, but I've shared most of my biographical info in my blog and in my comments on several other blogs over the months. My life has been very linear: school –> college–> work. I'll be happy to answer any questions if you have them
I have questions like: in what context did you spend 3 years in Germany? And, did you live all your life in Jordan before that? And…. well, those 2 are enough for a start
plus the university question of course
(http://livejournal.com/users/)
Reply
ok, one question at a time… University. I have just moved to London and I fell in love with it!love from the first moment type of thing!!
Now to you, saying school… college… work… is too general! did you even remotely imagine that this is enough?!

This is cheating! You tell me you're in London, then blog about it. I could have simply read your blog
Anyway, you accused me of making you appear nerdy, and now you're going to make my life seem boring! Is that your revenge?
I'm not sure what to tell you, I've already mentioned most things about my life: born in Amman, lived there till i turned 18, and I've lived in the U.S. ever since. Oh I know! I have the perfect story for you, with so many aspects that you're interested in:
In the summer after my 10th grade I went on a three-week student exchange trip to England organized by the British Council in Amman. I loved everything about that trip. I loved the cloudy, cozy, sky. I loved the gentle drizzle. I loved the lush green color of life everywhere. I loved the laughing and kidding around while having a beer in the garden of a small pub at night, where they didn't mind that we were under-age because we were “exotic” for that small town in the English countryside. I loved getting to know our British counterparts.
Unfortunately, the Jordanian students tended to gang together and did not take full advantage of the opportunity to really get to know our counterparts. I made a special effort to avoid that, and spent as much time as I could trying to get to know them. So, on our final night there, the British students invited me to join them in a separate room for a little good-bye thingie, and then they all stood around me and started to sing “for he's a jolly good fellow”. I almost cried.
How was that! See how generous I am compared to a misery “I'm in London”, and you would've known it anyway by reading my next post
Heck, you didn't even mention what university you're attending!
Reply
Clarification: “misery” from “miser”, opposite of generous (probably not a correct word); not “misery” as in deep sadness and distress

first of all I have to tell you, this is AWESOME! I completely hear you on the issue that computer science was very soul-less… because as much as I like engineering, it's too rigid for me!! I can't wait for your posts once you really get into the student life and the reading lists and the long nights and having to write essays and stuff… don't ever get too busy to share all different aspects of the experience
PS. Ziad I knew it was you from the first comment ;p

I just realized that the word I should have used was “miserly” not “misery”…. live and learn

Ok, in return of these valuable information, I will enclose another piece of information. I have my own business, I organize youth exchange programs like the one you have been to, but for older people (18-26) The first project I have organized I have not slept for 5 days and lost 7 kilos from all the running, I have done. But… it changed my life
It was the most satisfying experiece I have done since I started working, it was very human, very fullfilling.
Usually, our exchanges are thematic, we get our youngsters to work and have fun, and we take them to different places. Next year, i will try to do something and get few of the bloggers to go. I run my busienss remotely
your turn

ok…ok… i did not know you are an engineer… I am impressed by all you young ladies who are smart, beautiful, cultured, amazing personality and FUN

Ziad, your information was very close but there are few inaccuracies
but I had to remove the comment, because some chemical element in my brain brain was produced reading it, which made me feel odd to see my life spread out in front of me like a rolled out carpet
but I ptomise i will stick to the deal… you have to fullfil your side fisrt though

But all that information was from your blog and your comments on other blogs! My brain brain simply functioned as an aggregator, with some deductive reasoning and analysis
You know, this is turning out to be fun, although I honestly did not intend for all these complications when, on a whim, I decided that I probably didn't have to sign that first comment because you would surely guess who it was immediately
OK, I'll play along on my blog to avoid an endless trail of comments here (it would also be easier if you respond in a new post too).
But I have to make two points of order first: (1) The score for NEW information now stands at 0:1 in MY favor, so the ball is still in your field! (2) My analytical mind had realized that your analytical mind was sensitive to its “self image” from the previous concern about the nerdy appearance; but by deleting the previous comment, it appears that you are even more sensitive than I initially calculated
Taking point #2 into consideration, I'll understand if you decide that this is getting too freaky and you want to stop. See how considerate I am?! But seriously, I only want to do this if it's going to be fun for both of us (I'm already feeling bad for being too intrusive).
