Exchange

would not want to forget. It was UNBELIEVABLE!

No matter what write, I would never be able to find the words that would capture the feeling I had during and after the project! it was really unbelievable! I cannot start to describe the satisfaction I felt on all levels mental, psychological, and human…and the list goes on.
We had 40 young people coming to Amman from different places, Spain, France, Lebanon and Jordan… These young people had a program set for them. Work and fun… Work wise, we had to do a tour in the south of Jordan with the goal of forming an idea about the environment in Jordan, culture, nature, gastronomy, people…erc. Then we had to come back to Amman, to translate what was captured on paper and photos into a website http://www.geocities.com/jordan_ecomed2004/index.html and few presentations… This exchange continued for 13 days.

Last 5 days of the project I did not have in total 10 hours of sleep, and I lost about 5 kilos because of all the stress and running and exhaustion and work and dealing with 46 different problems every day( 40 kids and their leaders), but it was worth it. It was worth every single minute…
I loved the way some of these kids fell in love with each other even without knowing one word in common (different languages and we had no one language in common) I loved the way everyone hugged each other and cried at the very last minute, even our most macho young men…13 intense days are more than enough to build real human ties…. and as I wrote in an email before…. This experience made me feel fascinated by the beauty of belonging to the human race.

From a work point view, I believe the purpose of the project was achieved, as we managed to create a website and all the presentations, even though some of these kids, have never seen a computer before…. What I really think is that for the fist time in my life I really know what I should be doing in my life… I belive knowing what you want is 90% of the solution to any problem

Taking teenagers out of their known worlds and letting them see others is so wonderful. The teens also get to discover things about themselves that they didn't know. What a fantastic project! What a great thing this is you have done!
